Our approach encompasses many initiatives which focuses on reducing our own impact on the environment and how we improve the environment for others and make a positive long-term impact.
One such initiative we have been exploring presents an opportunity to work with the Woodland Trust as part of their Community Woodland Programme to plant trees on Altrad owned land and on our client’s sites to support our carbon offset drive, whilst also enhancing local communities with a long term legacy.
We are delighted to announce that the first grant from the Woodland Trust has been approved, which will see the creation of the first Altrad Community Woodland in Wheldrake, York. The site will be planted with up to 1,500 native trees, working in conjunction with the local council and local schools to provide a haven for wildlife and the local community.
This is the first in a number of woodland projects we are implementing, and we are in discussions with some key clients who have expressed a desire to work with us to transform some of their vacant land into native woodland environments.
Moving forward, we will be looking at other sites across the UK to bring into the project, which will include both small and large projects, allowing people to experience the positive impact as close to their home environments as is possible.
If you would like to get involved in this initiative, or nominate any future sites, please do get in contact with us.
